Why do I need a Surf Guide?
Miyazaki has a great coastline which offers incredible surfing all year round. One of the best ways to explore this area of Japan is by Camper Van but for those who really want to find the best surf spots, a LOCAL SURF GUIDE is recommended. The opportunity to get on the best waves depending on wind direction, swell and entry points. Surfing may be prohibited in some locations due to recent accidents or annoyance to residents. Smaller surf spots may have stricter 'LOCAL RULES'. Our Surf Guides will make sure you find the best waves to match the condition of the day and to experience the true Nature of Miyazaki.

Kanegahama beach lies just a few kilometer’s south of Okuragahama. A smaller beach with a great vibe. Free parking is also available but is more limited. Has toilet and shower facilities for use. Be aware of the rips here.
Okuragahama is selected as one of Japan’s top 100 beaches, with its white sand and green pines stretching across 4km. It is the most well known surf spot in Hyuga. Along route 222 from Nichinan to Miyakonojo you will come across a road station just passed the Nichinan Dam called Michi No Eki Sakataniko. These kind of road stations are all over Japan and a great place to stop for snacks and local fresh produce. Here you will find the Rice terraces and waterfall.
Futo beach is located along Miyazaki’s most scenic coastal drive, Route 220. A quiet little beach town that really comes alive during the Summer season. Although you can swim here all year round, you will not see anybody in the water until the 1st of July.
Step back in time as you explore this quaint historical village. Often regarded as ‘The Kyoto of Kyushu’. Obi is full of historical sites to explore and has a long history of Samurai. There are many buildings and small museums located around the town and are full of information in many languages.
NISHIMORO FOREST PARK is located in the middle of a cypress forest surrounded by the Kirishima mountain range only about 1 hour drive from Miyazaki city. There is a pump track that has been built in using the natural features and flow of the forest. Great for both skateboarding and biking.
